Budget airline Ryanair is set to cut 7 out of its 9 flights currently servicing San Javier Airport in Murcia, reports Kyero.com. The airline is angry that the region has handed a €3 million subsidy to a smaller regional airline Air Nostrum, which mainly operates domestic flights from Madrid.
Ryanair sees the subsidy as unfair and is throwing its weight about in protest. The airline carries 49% of all UK traffic to Murcia and the cuts will have a signficant affect on local tourism and in the turn the holiday home market.
